An acrostic poem in which the first letters of the lines spell out FIFTY-POUND NOTE

Felicity Ford was a saver,

Intelligent, godly and good.

Fast and astute when counting her loot,

Terribly careful and cautious to boot,

Yearning to save what she could.

Peter, her man, was a spendthrift,

Over the top so to speak,

Under the spell of ‘Spend and to hell!

Never mind what might happen next week!’

Doubtless the couple were suited,

Nicely paired off in their way,

One to the other as death is to life,

Two as well-matched as Jack Sprat and his wife,

Exquisitely dovetailed, I’d say.
