In two minds

A sonnet in which the sextet refutes or contradicts the arguments or sentiments in the octet
A bishop, by his gaiters and his gait,
Should show, as all the good and godly must,
That he, to use the current phrase, is ‘straight’
And would not take another man in lust.
The logic of this statement none should doubt,
For bishops are obliged to rise above
Those lesser souls who, having sinned, ‘come out’
Insisting that their lecherous lust is love.
But why bash bishops when they don’t conform?
Salvation comes to those who won’t behave.
If every bishop satisfied the norm
There’d be no sinners left for God to save.
Since God is Love, he’ll love gay bishops too,
And G.A.Y., remember, stands for Good As You.
