When church was opened up once more

(With some still wore their masks)

The time was ripe as most felt sure

To redistribute tasks.

Though Katie came to church each week,

The problem to be solved

Was how to get a girl so meek

More actively involved.

She couldn’t read aloud, or sing,

Her social skills were few

In fact there wasn’t anything

Of import she could do.

But everyone was cheerful

When she passed them in the aisle,

The girl was never tearful

And she had a lovely smile

That made their hearts beat faster

Making everyone feel blessed

And all felt sure she’d master

The involvement they’d suggest.

It’s a job now Katie handles

With such poise and grace and style,

She’s the one who lights the candles

And it makes the whole church smile.
